I'm Christye, a self-taught British artist based in south east England.
Art has been my happy place since I was old enough to hold a pencil, and this is what I love to do.
In this digital-first age, I think the experience of creating, looking at, feeling and sharing a painting is particularly special.

Inspired by masters like Turner and Monet, I specialise in landscapes and nature, using watercolour paints to create delicate, painterly pictures. My work is full of detail and light, and I like the sense of atmosphere and romanticism with watercolours. I paint on handmade, textured paper that has beautiful rough edges and gives the piece even more character. 

In 2023, I painted every day for a month whilst on a solo trip to Japan. Creating a sketchbook full of watercolour paintings, I felt so inspired by the new environment and way of seeing. I try to take this curiosity into my everyday world back at home, and savour the little moments and things like new spring flowers, dappled sunlight or a woodland walk.
